PostPosted: Sun Oct 04, 2009 9:38 pm    Post subject: Building a roof for my addition

I'm building an addition. Right now I don't need any space above it. But I might later. I might need space for a college student moving back home. The addition is for a small apartment for my parents. I want to build the addition so I can finish the attic later for another group of rooms, maybe another apartment.

I understand that my best bet is to go ahead and rough out everything on the "second floor" of the addition. But knowing what I plan to do with the space in a couple years, is it best to use rafters and build it from scratch or to use pre-built trusses?

All help is appreciated.

Bill B.
